New
and Forthcoming on Shout!

Having paused to catch breath after a hectic early-year schedule, we resume with Linda Hayes “Atomic Baby” (Shout 49) in November, capturing the best of her recordings on the Hollywood and Antler labels, plus some bonus tracks from King with her brother Tony Williams and his group, the Platters. Linda was influenced by Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington, and provides a further musical link between 1950s R&B and the emergence of Etta James and Aretha Franklin in the soul world.
We are hoping that a special project will come to fruition to celebrate the 50th release on Shout Records, and we go into 2009 with the re-issue of Willie Hutch’ debut RCA album “Soul Portrait” (Shout 51) in January, then venture into the (relatively!) ‘modern soul’ field in February with a CD by Sandra Feva from Tony Camillo’s Venture label, the 1979 LP “Savoir Faire” plus bonus tracks.
March 2009 will bring the CD re-issue of Freddie Scott’s Columbia LP “Lonely Man” (Shout 52), with bonus tracks comprising his singles from Columbia, and we are just waiting for the completion of paperwork before announcing some more exciting projects! |
