It can be a long and winding road to recognition, as can be testified by Wilson Meadows, who has been on that road since the early sixties, and only now can post a pedigree of fine recent solo albums. His recording career started with the Zircons, singing Doo-Wop with singles on Federal and Capitol at either end of the 1960's, then continued with his brothers as the Meadows on Radio Records - an LP recorded at Muscle Shoals with the legendary studio band , and scored an R&B chart hit in 1977 with "I Can't Understand" by the Meadows Brothers on Kayvette. Following a period away from the music business, he returned to recording in the early 1990's, and was signed to Bob Grady's BGR label in Georgia (contributing to the Oscar Toney Jr album 'Guilty' - SHOUT30). Wilson has now recorded four solo albums, and Shout Records is pleased to re-package the songs from his 'Memories' album from a decade ago, as 'Go On and Cry', presenting the chance for a wider audience to hear one of the pioneers of southern soul. These recordings have never previously been available outside the USA and are a perfect compliment to his timeless canon of Classic Soul! When You're Getting My Love / I Promise / Let's Cut Out Of This Game / Everybody Needs Help / Tell Him / Memories Keep Hangin' On / Where Will This Leave Me / Stroll It / Hold On My Heart / Oh Girl / Just Can't Do Without You / Go On And Cry |
