Joe Simon
Monument of Soul
rpmsh222
RPM presents an overview of the golden era of Joe Simons recording career . He scored 17 US National Hot 100 and R&B chart hits between 1966 & 1972, all of which are included on this compilation together with a few choice b-sides and album cuts . Simon carved a niche for himself in the 60's as the innovator of Country - Soul . There was enough Soul in his numbers for the singles to score in the R&B charts (he was seen at the time as a natural successor to Otis Redding), then the influence of recording in Nashville (with even a couple of numbers being produced by Scotty Moore (the Elvis guitarist) ) helped the sounds to cross over to a mainstream audience.

This collection has not been released on CD before and one of the songs, 'Moon Walk' ( a commemoration of Neil Armstrongs lunar stroll ) has never been reissued . All recording are from the Sound Stage 7 label, part of the Momument Recording Group (hence the album pun, geddit ?!).
