 Bobby Robinson was a key figure in independent New York record production during the 1950's through to the mid-1960's. Having enjoyed healthy local sales with doo-wop and blues discs on his "Robin" and "Red Robin" labels in the mid-1950's, he then launched "Fire and Fury" as vehicles for local talent and material discovered during his field trips to the deep south.
