Selecta - The Best Of 1979 - 1981 CSA117A regular on the European tour circuit Chapman has been at the forefront of quality rock music for thirty years. Chapman made his name as frontman and lead vocalist with the much respected British rock band FAMILY until they disbanded in 1973. He then ran the acclaimed outfit STREETWALKERS for four years before deciding to launch his own solo career. It's a career that continues to this day with him still producing new solo albums and playing regular live dates. SELECTA captures Chapman early in his solo career between 1979-1981 on recordings he made for Acrobat and Kamera, and provides a best of selection from that period. In so doing we have 3 tracks not reissued on any format. The selection is a showcase for Chapman at his very best powering through original numbers like Midnight Child and Can't Stand It or well chosen covers like Larry Williams Slow Down or Jagger/Richards Lets Spend The Night Together. The Shortlist was the name of the band that backed him on the European tours and the first solo recordings;players included Geoff Whitehorn (Procul Harum), Mickey Moody (Whitesnake), Boz Burrell (King Crimson), Nick Pentelow (Wizard). Chapman rightly deserves his continued respect and fame. He is a vocalist of rare talent and distinctive sound (in the same way that Jethro Tulls Ian Anderson or Paul Rodgers have that certain unmistakable identity) and his performances still exude a great intensity. Midnight Child / Keep Forgetting / Face Of Stone / Shape Of Things / 5 /10 /15 /20 / Can't Stand It / Big Roll Daddy / Slow Down / Shortlist (Live) / Can't Get In / Keep A Knockin' (Live) / I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man (Live) / Let's Spend The Night Together (Live)
