In this, Marc's 30th year as a recording artist, Variete, revisits the eras of Marc's personal and musical life providing an eloquent and sometimes nostalgic, insight into what defines him as a performer.

Almond says "The album deals with the themes of the changing times, a yearning for simplicity, regret at loss, growing older, loneliness through the eyes of a performer, madness, letting go, acceptance, as well as our obsession with nostalgia. For me the past and a sense of history is what gives us soul and humanity, gives us value. I wanted to celebrate nostalgia.

He goes on to elaborate "This is a personal record of my own life and the decades I've grown through: born in the 1950's, a child of the 60's, a troubled teen of the 70's, a star of the 80's, a drug casualty of the 90's, an actual road casualty in the new millennium, and from it a rehabilitated and re-invented person, with a new sense of self."

Marc has always excelled at mixing musical genres and writing vividly poignant lyrics, as well as collaborating with musicians of note. Variete is produced and arranged by Marc himself, with the exception of 3 tracks (The Trials of Eyeliner, Bread and Circus and Soho So Long) which are produced and co-arranged by Tris Penna, who produced much of Marc's 2007 album Stardom Road.

PREMIATA FORNERIA MARCONI, better known in English speaking countries as P.F.M. , were arguably the finest Italian Progressive rock band of the 1970's and certainly one of the most well known. A successful act in their home land, they came to international attention when they signed to EMERSON, LAKE and PALMER's label MANTICORE in 1973.

Their 1976 album for the label, "CHOCOLATE KINGS" featured new vocalist Bernado Lanzetti and is arguably one of their finest works. This new edition of the album has been newly remastered and includes an additional CD of previously unreleased live material recorded at Nottingham University on the band's 1976 UK tour, along with a lavishly illustrated booklet, new essay and fully restored artwork.

ATOMHENGE, the home of HAWKWIND's cataloguefrom 1976 - 1997, continue their series of definitive reissued editions of these classic albums with the release of "CHURCH OF HAWKWIND".

The album, originally released in 1982 by RCA Active, began life during sessions for "Sonic Attack" in 1981 and continued into the first months of the following year. The resulting album was a very different HAWKWIND release which utilised synthesisers and electronic music to great effect. Fused with Hawkwind's unique space rock style, the album gave the band another Top Thirty UK hit album and laid the ground for the "Choose Your Masques" album later in the year.

This Atomhenge reissue includes five previously unreleased recordings from the album sessions and fully restores the limited edition lyric booklet, included with initial pressings of the original album.

Signing with Creation, Slowdive's early singles received glowing press and chart placement. Their debut single, Slowdive, thinly veiled an indebtedness to the Byrds and My Bloody Valentine, with no traceable punk influence Just after Slowdive's recording, The sleepy escapist psychedelia of both Morningrise and Holding Our Breath made significant impressions on the British indie chart.

The press dubbed them part of "The Scene That Celebrates Itself" - a small, loose, conglomerate of like-minded bands who could be seen at each other's shows, frequently hanging out together within the same circle. This "scene" included Lush, Moose, Swervedriver, Curve, and Blur.

This anthology compiled and annotated by Mojo's Kieron Tyler is a fine stepping on point for anyone interested in the works of Slowdive. This is the first in series of releases by the band on Cherry Red
