2	Tony Banks - A Curious Feeling (eclec22161)
Esoteric Recordings are proud to announce the release of 30th Anniversary editions of the album “A Curious Feeling” by Genesis founder member and keyboard player Tony Banks on Monday October 19th 2009. This classic album, inspired by the novel “Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes, was first released in October 1979 by Charisma Records. Recorded at Polar Studios in Stockholm, whilst Genesis were on a brief hiatus following the “And Then There Were Three” tour, this majestic work featured contributions from drummer Chester Thompson (a member of GENESIS for concert appearances) and vocalist Kim Beacon. Stylistically the album is equal to anything Banks composed for Genesis and includes the evocative instrumental “The Waters of Lethe” and the song “For a While” (released as a single in 1979 and issued as a Download single via iTunes on October 19th) among its highlights. Significantly, this new edition of “A Curious Feeling” has been remixed from the original master tapes by Nick Davis (who also remixed the entire Genesis catalogue in 2007) and Tony Banks, resulting in a more dynamic sounding album. In addition, a new 5.1 Surround Sound mix has also been prepared which is included on a Limited 2 Disc Deluxe Edition of “A Curious Feeling”, along with the rare promotional videos of “For a While” and “The Waters of Lethe” made in 1979. A top thirty hit album upon its release, these editions of “A Curious Feeling” are the definitive statements on this classic album. ATOMHENGE, the home of HAWKWIND's catalogue from 1976 1997, continue their series of definitive reissued editions of these classic albums with the LIMITED 3CD DELUXE EDITION release of LEVITATION. Recorded in 1980 and featuring GINGER BAKER, the album was a classic work and spawned an equally legendary tour. Although Baker's tenure with Hawkwind was brief, a concert at Lewisham Odeon in December 1980 was recorded by a mobile unit. Now remixed from the original multitrack masters this deluxe edition includes the entire concert (during which Sci-Fi author Michael Moorcock guested). Released on 07/09/09. Marc Almond, a latter day curator of popular song, has rediscovered the songbook of Vadim Kozin. Kozin was the Soviet era's much-loved, exiled then forgotten singer of Gypsy Folk and Russian Torch Song Romances. Almond discovered Kozin’s work on his first visit to Russia in 1992 and was immediately taken with the purity and passion of his voice, as well as the beauty and melancholy of his songs, which are enhanced by the hardships Kozin suffered throughout his life. Marc has joined creative forces with Russian producer and musical arranger Alexei Fedorov who shares both Marc’s love of Kozin and his aim to help bring his repertoire to a new audience. The songs have been specially translated for Marc and have never been sung in English before. Released 26/09/10. Unlike many bands whose careers had begun in the 1970 s, CAMEL continued to enjoy much success in the 1980 s, producing fine studio albums such as Nude. A conceptual work, the album featured many fine songs such as Lies, City Life and Drafted, along with excellent instrumental pieces such as Captured. An international success, Camel toured globally to promote the album, with their concert at Hammersmith Odeon recorded by the BBC for the In Concert programme. This re-mastered and expanded release includes the lengthy medley Excerpts from Nude from that radio broadcast as over 30 minutes of bonus material. This new release also includes an extensive booklet with copious photographs, memorabilia and a new essay. Released 26/10/09 Unlike many bands whose careers had begun in the 1970s, CAMEL continued to enjoy much success in the 1980s, producing fine studio albums such as Stationary Traveller. Although destined to be Camel’s final studio album for Decca Records, it was a fine effort. The subsequent tour to promote the album was equally memorable and was captured by Decca at Hammersmith Odeon on 11th May 1984 and released as the album Pressure Points later that year. The concert saw CAMEL joined by former member PETER BARDENS for certain songs during the set, including a rousing version of Lady Fantasy, not featured on the original album. Long unavailable on CD, this newly re-mastered Esoteric Recordings reissue has been expanded to a 2CD set to include songs not featured on the original album. Released 19/10/09. A classic slice of uplifting 80s Europop, the London Boys debut album "The Twelve Commandments Of Dance" is given a remastered Special Edition reissue. "The Twelve Commandments Of Dance" reached #2 in the UK, and features the huge Top 5 singles "Requiem" and "London Nights" plus subsequent hits "Harlem Desire" and "My Love". The London Boys were masterminded by German pop producer Ralf-Rene Maué, but a close association with Pete Waterman s Hit Factory resulted in tours alongside Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan and superb PWL 12 remixes of all four UK singles. These sought-after full-length mixes feature exclusively on this Special Edition, issued together for the very first time. The extensive CD booklet includes full lyrics, additional photos and discography and brand new sleeve notes. The London Boys were Edem Ephraim and Dennis Fuller, who met at school in Greenwich before moving to Hamburg in 1981. The nickname they had been given by the locals became their stage name when they launched a pop career in 1986. Over the next decade, they sold 4.5 million records worldwide, with major success across Europe and Japan. Tragically, Edem and Dennis died in a car crash in the Austrian Alps in 1996. I Can See Your House From Here was a revitalized work that included many fine songs such as Ice (featuring Phil Collins on Percussion), Hymn To Her and Your Love is Stranger Than Mine. Produced by Rupert Hine, the album was a chart success and spawned an extensive World tour. This Esoteric Recordings edition has been re-mastered from the original tapes and features two Bonus Tracks, including a live version of Ice recorded by the BBC in 1981. Originally formed as a counterpoint to New Edition, New Kids On The Block were one of the most successful boy bands of the late 80's and early 90's - selling 80 million albums worldwide. This live concert, filmed at Los Angeles Mayan Theatre in 1989, was the live version of their number one album "Hangin' Tough", and was filmed at the peak of a career when the band had two hundred thousand fan club members alone, and their hotline received one hundred thousand calls per week. The band split in 1993 - but have recently announced a full reunion - undertaking a massive tour of the US in summer 2009 and recording a brand new album.
