Artery are one of the great lost bands of the post-punk era. They were
widely acknowledged to be Sheffield's answer to Joy Division. Formed in
1979 they released 4 albums until their split in 1985. Reforming for
Meltdown in 2007 at the request of Jarvis Cocker, these post punkers will
be playing a very special gig for Chamber @ The Legion - 348 Old St,

When Blossom Dearie first emerged as a solo artist she was already unique
in many ways. Straightaway there was that voice - kittenish, intimate,
coquettish and understated where so many other jazz divas were straining

On Friday 9th January Tight Lip presents ‘In Cold Blood: The Johnny
Thunders Story’ with Nina Antonia and My Name In Lights and za DJ set by
Jim ‘Sonic’ Smith (Born Bad). Johnny Thunders was the legendary guitarist
of the New York Dolls, lead-singer of punk band The Heartbreakers and a
solo artist of high regard, until his mysterious death in a New Orleans hotel room in 1991. Advance tickets are now on sale for the event at Latest Music Bar in Brighton.
07/11/08 Cherry Red pays tribute to Yma Sumac
A legendary performer with an amazing four-octave range, Yma Sumac was
said to be an Incan princess, and one of the Golden Sun Virgins. A major
star of Broadway and Hollywood, her music veered from Les Baxters
interpretations of the native music of Peru, through neo-classical to
Mambo. Yma Sumac was the major singer in the Exotica genre and there has
been no one like her before or since in the annals of popular music.
