Flamin’ Schoolgirls cdmred253Critically acclaimed but never receiving their due, The Runaways were formed in Hollywood in 1975, with the help of music svengali / producer Kim Fowley, becoming the first all female Rock ‘N’ Roll band to actually make an impression on the record buying public and musicians alike – although more so now than then! The Runaways were originally hailed as a manufactured band due to Fowley’s involvement, however, their eponymous debut album soon proved their worth as musicians. With Joan Jett on rhythm guitar, Sandy West on drums, Lita Ford on lead guitar, Jackie Fox on bass and Cherie Currie on lead vocals, “The Runaways” (1976) contained tracks such as the snarling “Cherry Bomb” and the brilliant “American Nights” and prove The Runaways rocked with the best of them – and with an average age of 16!! Respected in their day by bands such as Blondie and The Ramones, and now cited as a major influence by bands such as Courtney Love, Bikini Kill, L7, The Donnas and Babes In Toyland - The Runaways time has finally come! Originally released on vinyl by Cherry Red in 1980, due to the popularity of our recent Runaways re-issues, and demand from the public, “Flamin’ Schoolgirls” will now be re-issued on CD for the first time!
Strawberry Fields / C'Mon / Hollywood Cruisin' / Blackmail / Is It Day Or Night? / Here Comes The Sun / Hollywood Dream / Don't Abuse Me / I Love Playin' With Fire / Secrets

Live In Japan cdmred241“Perhaps the very best from an era of classic rock live albums. Includes essential tracks ‘I Wonder Where The Boys Are’ and ‘All Right You Guys’, not on the studio LPs” Robert Coyne, Rock, The Rough Guide. Critically acclaimed but never receiving their due, The Runaways were formed in Hollywood in 1975, with the help of music svengali / producer Kim Fowley, becoming the first all female rock and roll band to actually make an impression on the record buying public and musicians alike – although more so now than then! Originally not released in the UK or US and only available on import, Live In Japan was recorded in 1977 during the girls sold out arena tour! By this time The Runaways had become genuine superstars in Japan and this album, which boasted superior sound quality (by '70s standards) and explosive, uninhibited versions of "You Drive Me Wild," "Cherry Bomb," "California Paradise," and other hard rock pearls only proves to serve their worth. With the line up still the same, just before Jackie and then Cherie were to leave the band the girl were on top form, making this one of the best live rock albums of the 1970s! Except for a handful of bootlegs, Live in Japan is the only documentation of the Runaways on stage! Respected in their day by bands such as Blondie and The Ramones, and now cited as a major influence by bands such as Courtney Love, Bikini Kill, L7, The Donnas and Babes In Toyland. The Runaways time has finally come! This is the third album in our series of 4 Runaways re-issues.
Queens of Noise / California Paradise / All Right You Gays / Wild Thing / Getting Hot / Rock'n'Roll / You Drive me Wild / Neon Angels / I wanna be where the boys are / Cherry Bomb / American nights/ C'Mon

Waitin’ For The Night cdmred240Although by this time The Runaways had lost both Cherie Currie and Jackie Fox, it was by no means fatal as the fabulous Joan Jett took over the lead vocals. With snarling vocals from Joan and in your face rock guitar from Lita Ford this was a fantastic album from The Runaways. Tracks such as the jaded ‘Little Sister’ and the catchy ‘Wait For Me’ proved there was plenty of life in the girls yet!! Critically acclaimed but never receiving their due, The Runaways were formed in Hollywood in 1975, with the help of music svengali / producer Kim Fowley, becoming the first all female rock and roll band to actually make an impression on the record buying public and musicians alike – although more so now than then! Respected in their day by bands such as Blondie and The Ramones, and now cited as a major influence by bands such as Courtney Love, Bikini Kill, L7, The Donnas and Babes In Toyland The Runaways time has finally come! This is the fourth album in our series of 4 Runaways re-issues and the first official release on CD! 27 years after their debut album The Runaways continue to hold a captive cult following!
Little Sister / Wasted / Gotta Get Out Tonight / Wait For me / Fantasies / School Days / Trash Can Murders / Don’t Go Away / Waitin’ For The Night / You’re Too Possessive

Queens Of Noise cdmred238Queens Of Noise is the second Runaways album Cherry Red will be re-issuing in September. Originally released in 1977 this album was hailed as a pop metal pinnacle for the band. Containing tracks such as I Love Playin’ With Fire, Take It Or leave It and the ballads Midnight Music and Heartbeat this album was seen as a concept album of sorts, about the roller-coaster ride of being a young band in decadent Hollywood. With production by Fowley and Earle Mankey (ex-Sparks guitarist) this is a glittering, driven rock album from the original girl power band!
Queens Of Noise / Take It Or leave It / Midnight Music / Born To Be Bad / Neon Angels On The Road To Ruin / I Love Playin’ With Fire / California Paradise / Hollywood / Heartbeat / Johnny Guitar
