Brazilian ultra speed Death Metal founded in
1997. ABHORRENCE arrived with the three track 1997 demo 'Ascension' which would
later be pressed onto CD in America by the Wild Rags label. The band cut a further
demo tape 'Triumph In Blasphemy' prior to signing to nFlorida's Evil Vengeance
label for the album 'Evoking The Abomination'. Not only did the album benefit
from sleeve artwork courtesy of MOTÖRHEAD artist Joe Petagno but the finished
tapes were mastered by MORBID ANGEL man Erik Rutan.
ABHORRENCE also featured on the Relapse 2001
4 way split CD 'Brazilian Assault'. Original bass player Kleber Varnier would
later make way for Marcello Marzari.

ABHORRENT (BRAZIL)

Thrash infused Death Metal act ABHORRENT was
forged during 1988. However, this original inception of the band would collapse
after issuing the 'Horrible Slaughter' demo.
ABHORRENT was reconvened in 1992 for a further
session 'Blood On Your Lips'. With guitarist Marcus Vireoli handling bass the
band cut album tracks in 1994. Bass player Leandro Soares would be inducted shortly
after but these songs would take a full three years to be issued as the 'Rage'
album. ABHORRENT did manage to put in a set of European dates to promote the
album.
Another tape 'Live In Rage' arrived which included
a version of SLAYER's 'Reign In Blood'.

ABHOTH date back to 1989 when they went under
the guise of MORBID SALVATION ARMY. The original line-up included vocalist Jörgen
Bröms who departed in 1990 to join AFFLICTED.
It's worth noting that ABHOTH guitarist Jörgen
Kristensen and drummer Mats Blyckert have also sessioned for SUFFER in their
time.
Following the single release, bassist Dag Nesbö and
Blyckert departed, making room for Claes Ramberg on bass and drummer Jens Klovegard.

ABLAZE MY SORROW debuted in 1993 with a line-up
of vocalist Martin Qvist, guitarist Magnus Carlsson, bassist Anders Brorsson
and drummer Fredrik Wenzel and soon issued a demo in early 1994 entitled 'For
Bereavement We Cried'. However, Fredrik Wenzel departed in mid 1994 in favour
of Alex Bengtsson.
Following recording of the debut album, 'If
Emotions Still Burn', guitarist Roger Johansson was substituted by Dennis Linden.

Founded in 1993 with the union of former EFFIGY
members guitarist Buck Weidman and drummer Craig Netto together with erstwhile
SARCOMA personnel guitarist Timmie Ball and bass player Mike May.
Songs for a proposed split CD with fellow Kentucky
act CATACLYSM were laid down but were duly shelved when their supposed partners
split. ABOMINANT issued their tracks as a demo tape regardless.
Weidman would break ranks to join the Air Force
leaving ABOMINANT to soldier on as a trio. Before long CATACLYSM singer Mike
Barnes was added to the ranks debuting on the late 1994 demo 'Never Truly Dead'.
However, the band's second attempt at a commercially released outing was scuppered
when label Arctic Circle Records collapsed after ABOMINANT had recorded tracks
for a scheduled mini album.
Wild Rags Records signed the band to release
this material with fresh songs for the 'Unspeakable Horrors' album.
Founder member Weidman would return to bolster
the guitar sound but ABOMINANT once more suffered at the hands of their label
when Wild Rags imploded. For the bands fourth album 'Ungodly' ABOMINANT cut a
deal with Deathgasm Records.
'Ungodly', which included a version of SACRAFICE's
'Reanimation', featured guest vocals from ESTUARY OF CALAMITY vocalist Ash Thomas.
ABOMINANT included their version of METALLICA's
'Battery' to the tribute album 'Overload 2'.

demo 'The Necrotorous Chronicles', issued a split album with CHRIST DENIED in
2000 following this with their full length debut 'The Purity Of Perversion'.
The band, forged in 1995 and led by Gurgloroth
Sven, also include drummer Steven, bassist Koen ("Bassturbations")
and guitarist Niek ("bulging sick string mayhem"). A second guitarist
Christophe augmented the band in 1997 and later Steven would relinquish the drum
stool to Frank.

Melbourne Death Metal unit initially formed
under the title of ACHERON in 1988 by guitarist David Abbot. ACHERON issued the
1991 single 'Deprived Of Afterlife' on French label Corpsegrinder although shortly
after Abbott, together with drummer Jason Dutton departed. The band pulled in
replacements Mark Schilby on guitar and BLOODUSTER drummer Ewan Harriott as the
band changed titles to ABRAMELIN in order to avoid confusion with the American
ACHERON.
A 1994 mini album 'Transgression From Acheron'
was followed by a full length album 'Abramelin', the latter including a cover
version of DEAD CAN DANCE's 'Cantara'. The band travelled to Europe gaining exposure
as support to NAPALM DEATH. In 1996 they were backed CATHEDRAL and PARADISE LOST
on their Australian dates.
During recording of ABRAMELIN's 'Deadspeak'
album during 1998 the band split acrimoniously. Vocalist Simon Dower and guitarist
Tim Aldridge regrouped pulling in DAMAGED drummer Matt Skitz for session work
and re-record the album from scratch for a 2000 release.

The band would share a 1998 album 'Live Aboard
The M.S. Stubnitz', released by the Australian In League Wit' Satan concern,
with Sweden's ARSEDESTROYER.
The band would feature on a string of split
7" singles in collusion with NASUM, UNHOLY GRAVE, DENAK and naturally industrious
Belgians AGATHOCLES. The 1998 'Dead Generation' split single in union with Spain's
DENAK on the Polish Dwie Strony Medalu label included a cover of the AGATHOCLES
track 'Senseless Trip'.

Death Metal band. A demo in 1996 'Wherever Witches Might Fly' marked their arrival

Dubbed by many as the vilest band on the planet.
A.C. (ANAL CUNT) was created by former EXECUTIONER man Seth Putnam in 1988 initially
intended as a joke act designed to offend as many people as they could while
playing their instruments as badly as possible for an intended life span of a
month at the most. Such was the cult the act engendered A.C. are still at it
over a decade later delivering a seemingly endless stream of strictly non P.C
abuse. Perversely the band, which has never employed a bass guitarist, has become
a major attraction in Japan.
A.C.'s debut line comprised of Putnam, BRATFACE
guitarist Mike Mahan and drummer Tim Morse and as such delivered a hint of what
was to come with the '47 Song Demo' tape. The '5643 Song EP' on Stridecore Records
was limited to a mere 307 copies of various vinyl colours. Acknowledging the
band's already established underground status a bootleg 7" split single
with PATARENI was leaked onto the market. A.C. members would also surface on
other groups recordings with the singer appearing on the SHIT SCUM 'Manson Is
Jesus' 7" single as well as sessioning with POST MORTEM.
With this line up the band toured Europe but
split upon their return. A.C.'s debut full length CD 'Fast Boston H.C' was issued
by Ecocentric Records in a plain card cover but confusingly would be reissued
the same year retitled 'Greatest Hits Vol. 1' with the same catalogue number.
By 1991 Fred Ordonez was on guitar for an infamous
split EP with THE MEATSHITS and a further shared effort with PSYCHO. Putnam would
also add guest vocals to the track 'Group Pressure' on PSYCHO's 'Riches And Fame'
10" EP. By the following year John Kozik of TOETAG had taken the position
for the 'Morbid Florist' EP.
Between 1993 and '94 A.C. operated with two
guitarists with Kozik alongside a returning Ordonez. In this incarnation the
band cut an irreverent live cover version of JUDAS PRIEST's 'Breaking The Law'
for a 7" single and the album 'Everyone Should Be Killed', released in Europe
with new sleeve artwork by British Extreme Metal aficionados Earache Records.
However Ordonez made a rapid exit midway through these recordings.
A.C. garnered further media exposure in 1995
by offering an Oi! Version of the BEE GEES Disco hit 'Stayin' Alive'. This outing
saw Kozik's guitar partner as Paul Kraynak.
Mainstream act PANTERA were by now open fans
of A.C.'s and it came as no surprise that Putnam was credited with backing vocals
on their 'Great Southern Trendkill' opus. A.C. undertook their only proper national
tour to date in 1996 with Deathsters INCANTATION. Putnam honoured the event with
a track 'Kyle From Incantation Has A Moustache' to which Kyle Severn himself
graciously contributed drums. The band by now was down to a trio of Putnam, Morse
and guitarist Scott Hull. The latter also operating AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED, PIG
DESTROYER and JAPANESE COMEDY TORTURE HOUR.
The 1998 acoustic 'Picnic Of Love' album was
reportedly recorded for a miserly $100.
In true spoofing style Putnam and Martin released
two supposedly 'Black Metal' demos credited to IMPALED NORTHERN MOON FOREST.
These recordings would later see an official release as a 7" single on M.T.S.
Records.
The band comprised of Putnam, guitarist Josh
Martin and drummer Nate Lineham for 1999's 'It Just Gets Worse'. PANTERA's Phil
Anselmo and Choke of SLAPSHOT also guested on the record. In typical fashion
the album ran into trouble before its release with a planned song 'Conor Clapton
Committed Suicide Because His Father Sucks' provoking the expected outrage. The
song had its title changed for the record. German distributors also rejected
the album due to the song 'Hitler Was A Sensitive Man'. Overall A.C. confronted
the expected maturity process by delivering a set of songs more extreme than
anything they had previously delivered.
By 1999 John Gillis had taken the drum stool
as A.C. issued a shared split live album with INSULT. Former drummer Tim Morse
later created THE PRETTY FLOWERS and MORSE CODE.

band MARDUK. Andersson also boasts credits with AMON AMARTH and ALLEGIANCE.
Vocalist Morten Hansen guested on OCTOBER TIDE's
1999 album 'Grey Dawn'.

confusion with the American ACHERON.

Death metal musically but with clear Satanic
overtones in the lyrics ACHERON are perhaps one of the more genuine of the American
exponents of black metal. Mentor and frontman Vincent Crowley is the founder
of the irreligious underground movement 'Order of the evil eye' whilst renowned
Church of Satan priest Reverend Peter Gilmore adds keyboards and contributes
lyrically.
Besides their collective musical endeavours
ACHERON have made waves in other media forms. One notable event had the band
in a televised debate with Christian evangelist Bob Larson. In front of the TV
cameras and a congregation of enraged Christians Crowley proceeded not only to
debate his point of view but as a finale ripped a bible into shreds showering
the pages over the stunned audience. Clearly recognizing valuable publicity Larson
invited Crowley back for a series of video discussion forums.
ACHERON, convened in 1988, marked their arrival
with the live 1989 demo tape 'Messe Noir'. These recordings would later see a
1995 release on 7" single format by Reaper Records limited suitably to 666
copies. The bands debut album 'Rites Of The Black Mass' swiftly became engendered
into underground folklore featuring as it does genuine black mass invocations.
Not surprisingly the content of the record provoked an extreme reaction and Crowley
was invited onto national television to discuss his views on the 'Entertainment
Tonight' show.
ACHERON's next album 'Satanic Victory' was
released on Lethal Records although the band were public in their dislike of
the finished product. So averse were they to the finished album ACHERON would
re-release the record with extra tracks, new packaging and previously unincluded
narratives on the Metal Merchant label.

Mike Browning has also appeared with ACHERON on their 'Hail Victory' album alongside
Crowley and guitarists Tony Blakk and Vincent Breeding.
Ex ACHERON guitarist Pete Slate would found
the Black Death act EQUINOX, later drafting another ACHERON veteran Tony Blakk.
The B side to the 1998 ACHERON single 'Necromanteion
Communion' featured a cover version of BATHORY's 'Raise The Dead'.
Guitarist Michael Estes busied himself with
a side project act BURNING INSIDE assembled by renowned ICED EARTH, DEMONS & WIZARDS,
DEATH and CONTROL DENIED drummer Richard Christy and BLACK WITCHERY guitarist
Steve Childers.
Drummer Tony Laureano sessioned for AURORA
BOREALIS and MALEVOLENT CREATION. By 2000 he was a member of Dutch act GOD DETHRONED.
Another former member, keyboard player Adina Blaze, would join LILITU.
Crowley created WOLFEN SOCIETY with DARK FUNERAL
guitarist Lord Ahriman and Jeff Gruslin of VITAL REMAINS in 2000.

The 'Edits' mini album is a collection of songs
from the second album re-mixed by Cassidy. 'Peagan Terrorist Tactics' once more
featured controversial artwork with the painting 'For He Is Raised' executed
by the renowned "Suicide assistance" Dr. Jack Kevorkian.
The band suffered a devastating blow in January
1997 when bassist Audrie Pitrie, together with his parents, were killed by a
drunk driver.
Vocalist Dax Riggs and guitarist Mike Sanchez
founded AGENTS OF OBLIVION. Guitarist Sammy Duet, also a member of heavyweights

Formed by Jani Aho (bass) Jusi Tainio (drums)
and Jarkko Rantanen (vocals / guitar) in 1991, ADRAMELCH sought out a vocalist
and second guitarist to join the founding trio and came up with Tuomas Ala-Nissila
and Erik Parviainen respectively, Rantanen switching to drums after Tainio departed.
The band recorded the 'Grip Of Darkness' demo
(featuring new bassist Mikko Aarnio) that led to a deal with the French Adipocere
label.
Following the release of the 'Spring Of Recovery'
single and a show with DEMILICH, BEHERIT and CRYPT OF KERBEROS in 1993, Seppo
Taatila (ex DEMIGOD) joined and contributed to the recording of 'The Fall' demo.
The band then featured on a compilation released by the Spanish label Repulse
with the track 'Heroes In Godly Blaze'.
The liaison with the Spaniards led to a two

ADRAMELCH were to lose bassist Aarnio after
the 'Psychotasia' album and also added the ex vocalist of DEMIGOD towards the

Initially entitled DISSECTION upon their formation
in 1989. Early on the band, comprising of vocalist / bassist Dario Kroznjak,
drummer Alexander Puzar and guitarists Sasa Ristic and Paulo Gavocanov, performed
mainly covers.
Hearing of the high profile Swedish DISSECTION
the band retitled itself AEON but not before Ristic had quit to undertake his
national military service. The band plugged the gap with keyboard player Sinisâ Bival.
The 1995 demo 'Clean Hand Of An Eternal God'
was issued in 1995 followed by the 1996 effort 'Ephemereal'.

Previously known as AFFLICTED CONVULSION and
launched in 1988 by ex DEFIANCE guitarist Jesper Thorsson, his guitar partner
Joacim Carlsson previously having been with DISMEMBER. AFFLICTED released the
first demo in 1990, titled 'Beyond Redemption'.
The decision to drop the word 'Convulsion'
from the band name was taken once vocalist Joakim Broms had joined. Further demos
followed in 1991 entitled 'The Odious Reflection' and 'Wanderland', prior to
the band's first single ('Viewing The Obscene') on Thrash Records.
The band suffered a change in membership when
bassist Fredrik Ling was ousted in favour of Phillip Von Segebaden following
the 'Astray' single in 1992.
During 1993 AFFLICTED recorded the track 'Seven
Gates Of Hell' for the VENOM tribute album 'Promoters Of The Third World War'
and bass for these sessions was handled by Mikael Lindevall of PROBOSCIS.
The 1995 album 'Dawn Of Glory' witnessed a
radical shift in style as Broms quit to join Deathsters ABHOTH and in came vocalist
Michael Van De Graaf. Joacim Carlsson left after the second album's release to
join PROBOSCIS then the Roadrunner signed FACEDOWN.
Despite the changes in roster, AFFLICTED have
still been able to tour Scandinavia consistently, including shows with ENTOMBED,
THERION and DISMEMBER.
Von Segebaden issued the first album from his
side project band DEFENDER in 1999 titled 'They Came Over The High Pass'.

Belgian Grindcore act AGATHOCLES evolved out
of the Punk scene in the early 80's. At first a loose collective AGOTHACLES as
a fully fledged band was created in around 1985. They have built a reputation
as undisputed leaders of the split 7" single phenomenon.
The self-titled 'Mince-Core' outfit have issued
an exhaustive roster of singles, many split efforts with other bands and albums
including a split album with Colombians AVERNO in 1995. This is part of a continuing
trend as AGOTHACLES have shared vinyl and CD space with the likes of NYCTOPHOBIC,
CARCASS GRINDER, SMEGMA, BLOOD and PUTRID OFFAL among many others.
The band has featured on a number of compilation
albums in addition to the singles and album listed.
AGOTHACLES energy seems to know no bounds,
by 1996 the band had also performed over 400 gigs. As well as 7" singles
AGATHOCLES are not averse to alliances on cassette and tapes over the years have
witnessed unions with DRUDGE, LUNATIC INVASION, BULLSHIT PROPAGANDA, INCONTINENTIA,
EXTREME STROKE, IMPEDIGION, MUGGLES, VOLTIFIBIA, SHIT, DEFECATION PURULENTIA
and CRIPPLE BASTARDS.
During 1999 AGATHOCLES shared a joint album
venture 'Hunt Hunters' on Czech label Obscene Productions, with SUPPOSITORY,
the band of erstwhile AGATHOCLES guitarist Matti.
